International activity

In 2012 the international scientific cooperation of the Institute included participation in the activities of the International Consortium on Landslides which functions under the auspices of UNESCO. The Institute represents Ukraine in the named consortium by the Deputy Director Trofymchuk Oleksandr Mykolayovych. The Institute also coordinates participation of Ukrainian institutions and organizations in the activities of this international society.

 

During reporting period the Institute won 2 grants of international and foreign organizations:

  • An international grant was won on the project TEMPUS INARM for the years of 2012-2014 530601-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-PL-TEMPUS-SMHES: Informatics and management: Qualification Framework in accordance with the Bologna Process. There are 25 partners from 9 countries participating in the Project: Poland, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Netherlands, Austria, Russia, Armenia, and Ukraine. The aim of the Project is to introduce in the countries the idea of qualifications in the sphere of informatics and management. The plans are to improve educational standards on the basis of data collected from important potential employers and to improve new European approaches to qualification and setting up of the program. The new standards will be prepared on the basis of the National Qualification Requirements with the use of the EU experience. It is also planned to discuss in the EU universities the experience of retraining personnel of universities and ministries involved in the process of national standards development.

  • Another international grant was won on the project TEMPUS INURE for the years of 2012-2014 530181-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-DE-TEMPUS-SMGR: integrated university management system: EU experience in CIS countries. There are 19 partners from 8 countries participating in the Project: Germany, Poland, France, Netherlands, Belorussia, Moldavia, Georgia, and Ukraine. The general objective of the Project is to develop and implement an integrated management information system at universities of Ukraine, Belorussia, and Moldavia on the basis of the EU experience and achievements of universities. The specific objectives are to adapt the development and application of the integrated management information system according to the EU conditions and practices and to develop an operation manual in accordance with the principles and practices of construction and application of an integrated management information system. Besides the Project is designed to develop and integrate a new university management software on the basis of analysis of information flows and existing university management systems which are used at partner universities.

In 2012 researchers of the Institute attended and made reports at 74 international symposiums, conferences, and seminars of which 27 events took part outside Ukraine.

 

Researchers of the Institute took part in the work of international organizations, committees, councils. The Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Oleksandr M. Trofymchuk is a Member of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering; the representative of Ukraine in the International Consortium on Landslides (ICL).

  • In 2004 the Institute signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Numerical Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences for joint scientific activities within the framework of “The Program of scientific and technical cooperation between Ukrainian and Russian organizations and enterprises”. The same year an agreement was signed with Aktobe (Aktyubinsk) Research Geological Prospecting Oil Institute (Kazakhstan).

  • The Institute is a cofounder of NATO Advanced Study Institute (Albania). Activities of this Institute are aimed at developing coding theory and cryptography.

  • The Institute is also a cofounder of the International non-governmental organization “Society Ukraine – Montenegro” which was formed with the aim of national cultural cooperation, exchange of educational experience at various levels, cooperation between scientific and educational institutions, cultural and artistic organizations, distribution of information about Ukraine in Montenegro and about Montenegro in Ukraine.

  • In 2012 an agreement was signed for cooperation with Maria Joliot-Curie Sklodowska Institute in Lublin (Poland) on joint scientific, methodological, organizational, and practical work for introducing means of technological support of education quality control processes in the higher school system and creation of a joint virtual International Laboratory of information technologies in the education quality assurance system.

  • In 2013 an agreement was signed on cooperation with the Institute of Oceanology of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences within the framework of a joint Ukrainian – Bulgarian project of scientific and technical cooperation “Development of a model of a geoinformation system for space monitoring of ecological state of sea waters in ports and navigable waterways of the Ukrainian sector of the Black Sea”.
