It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we inform you that on July 14, 2023, the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine suffered a great loss. Chief Researcher Mykola Mykolaiovych Bychenok passed away at the age of 80.

An experienced specialist, an honest and sincere person, a caring family man and a good friend has left us.

Mykola Mykolayovych began his career in 1958 as a worker at a number of enterprises in Kyiv. From 1964 to 2002, he worked at the Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, after which he worked in research organizations of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine until 2010, and taught at the Ivan Chernyakhovsky National Defense University of Ukraine from 2010 to 2020. From 2010 to the present, he has been a senior researcher at the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

Mykola Mykolayovych is a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Senior Researcher. Author of more than 170 publications, including 12 monographs, textbooks and 8 inventions.

Main areas of research: information security, environmental monitoring system, safety of life in the natural and technological environment, information and analytical system for decision-making support. Mykola Mykolaiovych was a specialist in assessing the risks of information impact on people, society and the state and in project management of information systems.

He was awarded diplomas of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Chief of the National Defense University of Ukraine, and the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. He received official gratitude from the Mission of the People’s Army of China in Ukraine.

The staff of the Institute expresses sincere and deep condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

The bright memory of Mykola Mykolayovych will always remain in our hearts.
