On 14-15 November 2023, the XXII International Scientific and Practical Conference “Information and Communication Technologies and Sustainable Development” was held at the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The purpose of the conference was to exchange experience and coordinate scientific and practical activities on the development and implementation of modern information technologies to support decisions on ensuring environmental safety of regions and efficient use of their renewable natural resources.
The conference, which was partially held online, featured 37 scientific reports. “The best reports will be recommended for publication in leading scientific journals,” said Stanislav Dovhyi, Honorary Director of the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in his welcoming speech.
Along with the scientists of the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the conference was attended by scientists from Ukrainian and international scientific institutions and universities.
In particular, scientists from Polissia National University made a presentation on “Space and Geoinformation Support for Decision-Making in the Field of National Security of Ukraine”. The report provoked a lively discussion among the scientists present.
At the end of the first day of the conference, Oleksandr Trofymchuk, Director of the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Oleh Skydan, Rector of Polissia National University, signed an Agreement on Joint Scientific and Technical Activities.
Also, after the report of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Vasyl Ustymenko on “On the families of new graph-based stream ciphers with multivariate encryption maps of prescribed degree”, the Director of ITGIS of NASU informed him of the award of the NAS of Ukraine “For Preparing a Scientific Change” as an outstanding scientist in the field of cybersecurity, who has trained a galaxy of scientists in this field and on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
Professor Serhii Lupenko, a leading researcher at the Environmental Research Department of the Institute of Telecommunications and Global Information Space of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, who actively cooperates with foreign scientific and educational institutions, was pleased to deliver a presentation on “Theory of cyclic random functions and rhythm adaptive technologies for processing cyclic stochastic signals” in Ukrainian, which he had not done for many years.
The conference continued the next day on 15 November. Interesting reports were made by Doctor of Technical Sciences Dmytro Stefanyshyn and Vasyl Korbutiak on the use of remote sensing data to assess the state of surface waters in the lower reaches of the Dnipro River. Remote monitoring is of particular value for tracking changes in water quality in hard-to-reach areas. A similar situation is currently developing in the lower reaches of the Dnipro. As a result of Russia’s armed aggression, the flow of chemical elements and the water quality regime are undergoing significant transformations. The results obtained in the course of the study made it possible to carry out a comprehensive qualitative assessment of the state of surface waters in the lower reaches of the Dnipro River. Good presentations were made by the Institute’s postgraduate students, in which they covered the topics of their dissertation research.
At the end of the conference, Oleksandr Trofymchuk, Director of the Institute, summed up the results of the conference. He noted the high quality of the presentations, many of which provoked lively discussions. It was once again noted that the best reports will be recommended for publication in the collection of scientific papers “Ecological safety and nature management”, which is included in the list of scientific professional publications of Ukraine, as well as in the collection “Information and communication technologies and sustainable development” by Springer, which will be indexed in the Scopus scientometric database.
Oleksandr Mykolayovych wished all the participants success in their scientific work and expressed hope for a meeting next year.
This concluded the conference.
